Bad weather makes good pictures, or so the old saying goes. Photographers participating in the 2009 Mountain Workshops are getting a chance to prove it during their first full day of shooting in Calloway County, Kentucky.

After a soggy start, the workshops entered Day Two under a deep blanket of dark clouds. Wednesday evening, workshop coaches began their nightly critiques of their students' work, a learning process that's sure to damage a few egos.

And enough truly fine pictures came to prove the truth in that old adage.
