Jed Conklin was born in the Ohio River town of Owensboro, Kentucky in 1977, and began pursuing photography while studying at Western Kentucky University where he received a bachelor degree in both photojournalism and print journalism.
His first photography job landed him in Pinedale, Wyoming where he was an intern at the Pinedale Roundup. Later Conklin would intern at the Concord Monitor, the Jackson Hole News and Guide and would be hired full time at The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington. In late 2007 Conklin left The Spokesman-Review to freelance.
The last two years have been quite the adventure for Conklin. He has been on assignment or working on personal projects in Mexico, Morocco, Paris, China, Canada and Iraq.
Conklin has been recognized in several photojournalism competitions, including Pictures of the Year International, the International Photography Awards and The Best of Photojournalism where he won third place photographer of the year in 2006.
